Baby # 2 - The Big Gender Reveal

The title makes it sound like we just found out, like yesterday.  However, we found out baby # 2's gender when I was just 17 weeks pregnant.  I'm 31 weeks now.  Yes, this post has taken awhile! There are lots of things I have dreamt up in my head for this blog and oh-so-many projects I'm dying to tackle.  But right now, white-washed vaulted ceiling boards, can light placement, electric fireplaces, lack of insulation and custom wagon wheel chandelier design have my mind spinning.  Not to mention an almost 2 year old attempting to potty train and a Mama with an aching back and pelvis.  (sorry...was that TMI?  Oh well...)

Ok, so the point of this post....the gender!  We decided to have a 4D ultrasound at 17 weeks to find out the gender a little early.  As in "we", I mean my Mom.  We had a big gender reveal party when we found out what Paisley was and my Mom was excited to do the same for this one.  However, the date my gender scan was scheduled with my doctor was the day before we were leaving town for our annual Thanksgiving trip to Nashville.  I couldn't move the appointment up and with everyone's demanding schedules right before the holiday and leaving town, we couldn't arrange a good time for a gender reveal party.  My Mom recommended just going ahead and paying for the 4D ultrasound (at a different facility) to find out the gender early and having the big reveal party we wanted.  So we took her up on the offer and made the appointment!

Charlie was convinced it was a girl again.  I really had no clue.  We went in for the appointment and anxiously awaited our name to be called.  They finally called our name, got us in a room, put me on the table, and started the ultrasound.  We waited and watched as the ultrasound tech moved that little wand thing all over my belly.  We could clearly see the baby.  It was moving.  It was fine.  But, the tech continued moving that little wand over and over and over again.  Baby #2 did not want to cooperate.  The tech had me go pee and come back.  No luck.  She turned me on my left side. No luck.  My right side. Nothin'.  She tilted that bed so far back I was practically upside down.  That kid was not opening it's legs.  FINALLY, she said I think I see it, but I want to make sure.  So she continued to move me around and press that wand firmly onto my stomach.  Finally she touched her keyboard to capture the image and said "there it is....IT'S A…..

GIRL!!!!  We had a lot of fun with our gender reveal party, as you can see!  The pink silly string was so fun and everyone really loved being a part of it!  We had everyone split up.  If they thought it was a girl, they stood on the left.  Boy, on the right.  Then everyone got silly string to spray at one another, not knowing what color would come out!

So, it's official.  Our little family of three will soon be a family of four and Paisley will be a big sister to a sweet baby girl.  We couldn't be more excited...and happy that we saved all of Paisley's clothes!

The big due date is April 13th so we don't have too much longer!  Let's just hope she comes out a lot less stubborn that she was during that ultrasound!

Check back next week.  We'll be talking about some of the cool things we've picked up for our remodel, some great product deals and decor plans, plus revealing the name we agreed on for Baby Girl #2!

Oh BOY! Little Man Baby Shower

Meet my best friend, Jen.

This girl stole a piece of my heart when we were 14 and I'm certain I'll never get it back.  If it's possible to have two soul mates, she's my number two.  For the past 12 years, we have been inseparable.  To this day, we don't go a day without talking.  We're actually really different in a lot of ways.  I've even said before, that I don't know how we're so close or how we became friends!  But, we are and we did.  Maybe our differences is why it works.  Either way,  I love her and don't know where I'd be without her.

Ok, enough sap stories.  :)

My beautiful BFF is expecting a Little Man here in the next few weeks which means....BABY SHOWER!  I was honored to share the hostess duties with several other lovely ladies.

Remember Paisley's Carnival Party a few months ago?  Well, I partnered up with another AMAZING business for this Little Man Baby Shower!  I saw Jocelyn's work and knew we had to team up!  You can check out her site, DistInk Designs, HERE or her Facebook HERE.

This is the invitation we used...

And, the accessory package..

Her prices are soooo reasonable and the files are great quality!  It made planning this Little Man shower so much easier and stress-free!  The color theme and chevron print was adorable and perfect for our outdoor location.

Ok, Ok, I won't make you wait any longer....

We had the most beautiful location.  If you're in the Southern Illinois area and need a wedding or party venue, email me.  I'll give you all the deets on this place.

We had a brunch, so we served bagels, fruit, mimosa's, muffins and other yummy breakfast things.

These water bottle wraps were one of my favorite parts.  Do you see that nutrition label???  Such a cute touch!

We were lucky enough to have a beautiful day and comfortable weather!  (Southern Illinois summer's are humid as humid can get, normally)

Jen made these white chocolate mustaches for all of the guests!  These cute little matching favor tags totally set them off!

Now, for one of my favorite moments...

We brought a chalk board and chalk marker and had every guest write a personalized message to Jen.  She has her very own personalized guest book that she can keep forever!

Sometimes these things go so fast.

Before you know it, you're loading your gifts and cleaning up.  Being able to look back and remember each guest and all their sweet messages and advice will be something Jen and her new little family can cherish forever. :)

Another keepsake for Jen and Baby C, were these cute little wish cards.  These are totally customized in Jocelyn's packages and add such a cute touch.

We also included these inserts into Jen's invites.  I adore this idea!  It's such a personal touch and a much better use of guest's card money!

We had a blast planning and celebrating Baby C and we can't wait for him to get here!

So, what kind of party or event do you have coming up?  Wedding, Bridal Shower,  Birthday Party???

My new friend Jocelyn can totally hook you up!  Here are just a few of my favorite pieces she currently has in her shop.

Ok y'all, I could go on for days.  No matter what event you have coming up, DistInk Designs is the way to go!  Jocelyn offers printable files and printing services.  And her prices..... they're great!

Which is your favorite?  I'm totally digging that Burgers, Beer and Baby Talk invite!

It's not supposed to rain on your Birthday...

Hey y'all! Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?

Paisley's first birthday was Friday! So, we had a busy weekend!  Paisley and I ran errands for the big party on Friday, while Charlie and his parents worked on some last minute things around the house (like putting together her Birthday gifts!).  Friday night we went to a benefit for some friends which was held at one of our local wineries.  Yep, Paisley spent her birthday at a winery!  That's what all 1 year olds do, right???

She is so close to walking but still has a little wobble in her step.  So of course, being held for two hours straight in a crowded room with music is not what she had in mind.  I let her stand up next to me and hold onto a chair just to give her a break from being held.  She decided it was time to dance.  Before I know it, her dance moves got the best of her and she hit the floor.  Forehead to concrete.  She's a tough little girl and only cried for about two minutes.  But, we were left with a pretty red bump.  Best way to start the birthday festivities!  I should have known it would only go downhill from there!

Do you follow me on Instagram?  If so, you probably seen the prep work for her big Carnival/Country Fair party.

I worked with a cute little Etsy Shop and had all of these adorable invitations, signs, carnival games, and decorations.

Then Saturday morning came.  The day of the big event.

And...

it rained.

and rained.

and rained.

Can you feel the gloom here????

Let me just say our local weather people got this one wrong!  I knew it was supposed to rain. But it was supposed to be done early morning which would be fine for her 3:00 party! Not so much.  And it wasn't like a heavy down pour.  It was that annoying continuous sprinkle ALL DAY LONG!

So, we ended up with about 50 people inside our house.  About 10 of them being under the age of 5!  Let's just say it was a little crazy!

But even though it rained on our parade (carnival), we had a pretty great day.  We crammed everyone in the house and garage, served our crescent dogs, pretzels and nachos, watched Paisley devour a smash cake, and witnessed our family and friends completely spoil Paisley to death with so many wonderful gifts!  Saying we are blessed is a complete understatement.  We are beyond blessed and grateful to have so many family and friends who love Paisley just as much as we do!

I think she may have liked climbing on all the boxes more than what was inside!!!

After that eventful party...Paisley spent the next day like this...

She was completely tuckered out!  Tattoo wearin' off, moose man in hand!

Make sure you stay tuned.... I'll be back with more details on our Carnival Party Fail, but that's how just a sneak peek of how we spent our weekend!  Bustin' our butts to pull off a backyard carnival that got completely rained out!

At the end of the day, we're nothing but grateful.

Have a great week! Thanks for stopping by!

"Mommy to Bee" Baby Shower

Hey, hey, hey!  How are you guys!?  I have been so excited about sharing this post with you guys.  In December, I had the honor of helping plan and host a Baby Shower for one of my best friends.  Autumn and I cheered together in high school and have worked together for the past few years.  We've gotten so close and I was so honored to have a part in her special day.

Autumn's best friend Stephanie, and cousin Renee, were my co-hosts!  These two ladies are sooo talented and it was so fun working with them!  Stephanie is quite the design pro.  She designed the invitations herself and they were so adorable.  She used the same design to create food labels and favor tags.
Disclaimer - you are about to experience a crazy amount of photo's ...bear with me...

Let me start by introducing my cute little prego friend....

Seriously, how adorable is her cute little belly!?

And, the beautiful ladies I got to work with...

{Cue Photo Overload}
We used scrapbook paper as place mats.  Budget friendly with lots of color options!
Mason jars are always my "go-to" centerpieces.  We made our very own chocolate covered pretzel rods "Stinger Stix" and filled the jars with Honeycomb cereal!

I made a few banners for the cake and sweets table and my grandma made these adorable little onesies that went with our theme.
We made PB & Honey sandwiches...

Pinwheels...

Fruit trays...
And, veggie trays...

Stephanie made these cute little Wish Cards and we had all of the guests fill them out for Autumn and Baby Rylyn.

Renee whipped up these adorable favors.
 Tea bags with honey sticks!

 Ok, I promise....just a few more pics...

We used this sign on the entrance door.

And, the AAAHHHMAZING invitations I was telling you about...

We also set out envelopes for the guests to fill out which will save Autumn some MAJOR time! :)

Ok, I'm done!  We found so many great ideas on Pinterest.  (like you had to guess).  The "Mommy To Bee" theme was so much fun and I think it turned out pretty darn cute!  And, because Stephanie is so darn sweet she let me link up the printables so you can use them for your next shower!  More importantly, Autumn should be having little Rylyn within the next 21 days!!!!!!  I cannot wait to meet him and I know Stephanie and Renee are just as excited as I am!
